RCB vs SRH IPL 2026 Match 1 Highlights: RCB Win by 6 Wickets
The first match of the IPL 2026 season was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad. RCB won the toss and chose to bowl first.
SRH Batting Performance
Sunrisers Hyderabad came out to bat first with openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head. However, their partnership didn’t last long. Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for 18 runs, while Travis Head scored 23 runs before getting out.

Romario Shepherd also picked up 3 wickets but gave away 54 runs in his 4 overs, with an economy of 13.5.

RCB started their chase of 202 runs with Virat Kohli and Phil Salt as openers.
The first wicket fell early as Phil Salt was dismissed for 8 runs off 7 balls.
Then came Devdutt Padikkal, who built a strong partnership with Virat Kohli. Padikkal played an explosive innings of 61 runs from 26 balls with a strike rate of 234, hitting 4 sixes and 7 fours.
After his dismissal, RCB captain Rajat Patidar joined Kohli and scored a quick 31 runs off 12 balls at a strike rate of 258, including 3 sixes and 2 fours. However, he lost his wicket in a hurry.
On the very next ball, wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma got out for a duck.
Despite quick wickets, Virat Kohli stayed strong at the crease and guided the team to victory.
Match Result
Royal Challengers Bangalore successfully chased down the target, scoring 203/4 in just 15.4 overs, with 26 balls remaining, and won the match by 6 wickets.
Virat Kohli remained not out on 69 runs from 38 balls, with a strike rate of 181, hitting 5 sixes and 5 fours—an outstanding performance in the very first match.
SRH Bowling Performance
For Sunrisers Hyderabad, David Payne took 2 wickets in 3 overs, conceding 35 runs with an economy of 11.67.
Nitish Kumar Reddy bowled economically, giving away only 19 runs in 2 overs at an economy of 9.50, although he didn’t take any wickets.
